Join us 200 km above the Arctic Circle as we navigate the Lofoten archipelago, searching the fjords for the killer whales!
Every year, millions of herring overwinter near the Lofoten Islands. And following the herring come the killer whales, and your chance to experience them first hand! Once the whales have been sighted, we turn the engine off. You are only two feet – half a metre – above the waves. The only sounds are the slap of the sea against the inflatable, and the dramatic sounds of the whales themselves as the breath erupts through their blowholes, or as they move powerfully through the water. The scent of the sea in your nostrils – not to mention the herring! – and you will be completely spellbound by the spectacle before you. Words don’t do this amazing experience justice – you just have to be there!

Swim with the Orcas!
A close encounter with Nature you’ll never forget!
If conditions are right, you will have the chance to take part in a unique experience: joining the killer whales in THEIR element!
We provide all the equipment: dry suits, inner linings, masks and snorkels. This is all you need to comfortably float on the surface and marvel at the undersea world of these extraordinary creatures.
Flippers and flash cameras are not permitted, as these may frighten the herring and the orcas.
According to Lonely Planet, Lofoten Adventure is the world’s leading orca-diving team, with over 15 years’ experience in this specialized activity.

Whales are a part of Nature. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that we will encounter them every time, or that you will have the opportunity to join them in the sea, although this happens on most trips.
During the 2006/2007 season we observed whales on around 65 % of the trips. Out of the season’s 93 days, we only had to cancel the safari twice due to bad weather.
The skippers are in charge during the safari.
Relying on their extensive knowledge of the weather and the behaviour of the whales, they will judge if the conditions are right, and when it is appropriate go into the water.
Our skippers are thoroughly trained, and we make it a point that our staff is comprised of responsible individuals with an extensive knowledge of Lofoten’s history, culture, and nature.
From the base camp in Tysfjord we arrange daily departures from 31.10.2008 to 11.01.2009.
